Janakiram obtained B.Sc. (2006) in Chemical Technology and M.Sc (2009) in Organic Chemistry from Loyola Academy (Osmania University), Hyderabad. In 2010, he joined in CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory for his Ph.D under the supervision of Dr. Ganesh Pandey. In 2013, he moved to Center of Biomedical Research, Lucknow as a visiting research scholar. In 2016, he accepted a postdoctoral position from The University of Tromsø, Norway in the group of Prof. Hopmann and Prof. Bayer. In 2018, he accepted position as Researcher in the same group. Spending three years in Norway, he then moved to the Emory University, Atlanta, USA as a visiting researcher (funded by FRIPRO-Norway) in the group of Prof. Huw. M. L. Davies (03/2019-01/2020). In February 2020, he came back to India and joined at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Vaitla’s research interest includes the development of Sulfoxonium ylide chemistry, metal-carbene/nitrene chemistry, design and synthesis of new catalysts, C–H activation/functionalization and photoredox catalysis for the synthesis of bioactive molecules.
